    • It was a sunny day last Saturday, November 23. The Academic & Art Biennial and the 5th anniversary celebration of YWIES Guangzhou kicked-off smoothly on the campus.

In order to witness this historic moment, many parents arrived at the school early in the morning and attended the school activities with their children to wish YWIES Guangzhou a happy fifth birthday.

Plant a Tree and Bless Yew Wah

Initiated by the Home-School Co-operation Committee (HSCC), the representatives of HSCC donated a banyan tree to the school as a gift for the school’s fifth birthday. We also invited the representatives of the parents, students and staff to plant the tree that symbolises home-school co-operation and to wish the YWIES Guangzhou community a thriving future.

Tea Talk for Co-Principals and Parents on International Education

Western Co-Principal Mr Aaron Lennon, Chinese Co-Principal Ms Shannon Shang and Vice Western Co-Principal Mr Anthony Uiterwijk gathered with parents to discuss how international education at YWIES Guangzhou helps students to survive the challenges in the future.

      Fifth Anniversary Ceremony

Mr George Tsang, School Business Manager of YWIES Guangzhou, as a representative of the School Leadership Team (SLT), reviewed the school's remarkable achievements in the past five years. He said, "Yew Wah advocates holistic education and is committed to creating a positive, caring, joyful, and enviable educational environment. We celebrate the 5th anniversary today and we also hope to show our achievements in the integration of Chinese and western education through artistic, academic and sporting activities. "

      Experiential Classes for Parents

Parents who had registered in the experiential class received Yew Wah's acceptance letter and went through the "time tunnel" to enter Yew Wah's class and become students again. They experienced the way of learning as students in Yew Wah, and had chances to interact closely with teachers, experience the academic atmosphere, and receive information about Yew Wah's achievements in pedagogics and teaching innovation.

      Music Festival

Under the guidance of the Music Department, a wonderful music festival was organised by the senior students. Talented musicians from different Year levels at Yew Wah participated enthusiastically in the music competition. The sister school of Yew Wah, Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong, and parent representatives were also invited to perform to celebrate Yew Wah's birthday.

      Chamber Music Concert

The chamber concert was held in the Black Box theatre. Ms Tina and Ms Nancy led the Primary and Secondary students to perform together.

      Interactive Entertainment Booths

Interactive entertainment booths were prepared by the Secondary students which provided parents and guests an insight into the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.

      Basketball Match

Yew Wah basketball team played against three teams from Guangzhou Nanfang International School (GNIS), Canadian International School of Guangzhou (CIS) and Dulwich International High School Zhuhai (DHZH).

With the wonderful performances and the great effort of students and teachers, we look forward to YWIES Guangzhou's more fruitful academic achievements in the future!
